Intelligence Community Orientation for New Policy Makers is an overview of the American intelligence establishment, geared toward new, but also returning, members of the US national security/homeland security policy making communities. The course begins by addressing the history and 70 year evolution of the US Intelligence Community, then progresses to examine in depth the bureaucratic cultures, structures, processes, idiosyncrasies, strengths, weaknesses and current management challenges therein. The course provides new policy makers with a comprehensive understanding of and appreciation for the US Government’s primary source of “inside” information on foreign and national security matters.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, new policy makers will have built a solid foundation of understanding of the Intelligence Community, which should better inform and enable their policy decisions.
