Critical Thinking for New Intelligence Community Managers

Critical Thinking for New Intelligence Community Managers examines how to develop strong critical thinking skills and effectively apply them to and incorporate them with proven, IC-specific management concepts. It explores the fundamentals of critical thinking, examining its utility and demonstrating how it can be used in the context of structured management decision-making.  The course also considers cognitive traps often encountered in managers’ decision-making, and provides an in-depth examination of the problem solving process, to show how critical thinking can mitigate these errors.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be better prepared to:

  • Recognize mindsets and biases, how they affect the analytic process, and how to mitigate them
  • Use critical thinking skills to make a more objective assessment of a situation or issue, and generate more effective management solutions
  • Foster stronger analytic and operational performance through critical thinking
  • Provide more objective and resourceful advice/mentoring to junior colleagues/subordinates
  • Provide more thoughtful and objective input/advice to superiors
